Are you a data junkie? 🙋🏼♀️ I am. I loooove all the info that all the tech give, but when do you feel like it might be too much?
I can easily become fixated on what I think my data ‘should’ be. I should be meeting my step count. I should be tracking days to my next race. I should be notified every 12 seconds so I don’t miss anything.
We need time away from the data. We need time to be human.
So even with all the things that this amazing watch can do, it can do something pretty incredible in today’s climate, and
Garmin allows you to set your watchface and they have several that are just plain backgrounds. Notice there’s not even a battery display or the date on this watchface. Just the time. Just a watch. .
We need time to just be. No buzzing, no tracking, no monitoring. Now don’t get me wrong, all the data is still available if I ever want to look at it, but not having it front and center on my wrist is a big step. And while I’m in marathon recovery mode, who cares how many steps I took or how long before my next race? I love that Garmin allows us to see all the things, or none of the things.
I’m keeping it simple these days, and one day when the time is right, all the data will be back, tracking me to another PR. —————————————>

I also need a data break!! I’m obsessed counting my daily steps, and checking how I’m doing in my weekly challenge 🤦🏻♀️
My Garmin’s watch face is also just analog! I’ve been less concerned with the the data and just enjoying whatever activity I’m doing.

I don't wear my garmin unless I'm running, but I'm also taking a break from the normal data inputs. It feels weird but I know it's good for my brain to "detrain" a little after the past 4 months.

Yes! Although the controlling part of me likes tracking all the things, I am never better off for it. I still Track most of my runs, but that’s it. I don’t need anything else taking up space in my brain!
My Garmin and I are taking a break. I miss the actual time part of my watch 😂😂😂

I try and run once a week data free 😁 it’s nice because it reminds you of the natural beauty of running.

I love the data too, but being bombarded with it every time I look at the time is overwhelming for me. I just have a plain watch face too. I can go look for the data when I need it.

@juannguyenrunning this is a very good point. We can put all our eggs in the tech basket and forget that there’s a lot more to running than what is displayed on a screen.
@susanareyna1 Yes I was too! I knew it was normal for marathon training but afterwards I knew I needed to just “be” and I’m so happy I can still wear my Garmin and not have the data temptation right there!
